Roofing materials: From the traditional to the high-tech
From asphalt shingles, to metal, to slate, there’s a seemingly infinite selection of natural and synthetic roofing materials available to match the classic style of a heritage home or add contemporary class to a modern structure.
Some of our favorites…
Asphalt Shingles
Traditional asphalt shingles offer an upscale appearance at an affordable price. Quality products, such as those in the Biltmore™ Collection, come in a wide range of styles, colours, and types – each with its own Limited Warranty, from 25 Years to Lifetime.
Cedar Shingles
Cedar shingles provide a rustic, yet strikingly beautiful, appearance. Naturally resistant to rot, mildew, and insects, an expertly installed cedar roof can last three to five decades.
Synthetic Slate
Created in the image of natural, quarried roof slate – synthetic slate is designed to deliver the same aesthetic impact as its natural counterpart. With the ability to withstand the most extreme winds, bullet-like hail, and even fire, products such as Authentic Roof™ will last a lifetime.
So many options…where do I start?
Whether you’re building a new home or replacing an aging roof, your qualified roofing contractor can guide you through the entire process to ensure you can make informed decisions. They can assist you at every step, including material selection and colour choices to match or contrast existing trims and wall coverings.
And while you’re at it, don’t forget to consider your options for skylights, and solar panels, which can be added to practically any roof.

There are so many different options for roofs these days! I’m trying to decide what type I want when I redo my roof this spring. I want to make sure I pick something that will be durable, but also look nice. I kind of like the classic style, so asphalt might be nice.
Thanks for mentioning how asphalt shingles are typically inexpensive. My wife and I want to install some roofing for our home, but we wanted to find a good material first. We’ll be sure to look for a roofing company that will help us install asphalt shingles.
